I'm in heaven...
...because I bagged five books (yes, five!) for just £4 (yes, £4!) from my university library's duplicate book staff auction. And what wonderful, expensive books they are. I calculate that they would have cost me at least £150 if I had purchased them all online. The two hardback volumes of The Novel, edited by Franco Moretti, are worth £65 each! I'm so happy I could cry.
Aren't they beautiful?

Yay! They are beautiful, as is the background in the photos.

Zizek and Moretti are great readings. Congratulations on the excellent choice!

Lovely books! What bargains! Chatterton was the first book by Peter Ackroyd that I read - definitely one to re-read.

Karen : The background is our little garden, which is currently blooming in the May sunshine. Of course that means the weeds are also beginning to run rampant!
Fabio : Yes, they do look wonderful but I'm beginning to wonder whether I'll be able to understand the Zizek without a firmer grounding in Lacanian theory... I needed a dictionary just to read the blurb. :-/
BooksPlease: I studied Chatterton's medievalist poetry as part of a course during my undergrad and have been fascinated ever since. I've seen Ackroyd's book around in second hand shops and coveted it, but it has always been pretty battered. This copy is in perfect condition though. :-)

Re Zizek's Lacanianism -- his "How to Read Lacan" (1862078947) is useful.
Re Moretti -- let us know when you've read them. I won't hold my breath -- they are beasts!!

After reading your post and the comments, just thought I'd let y'all know that I just placed an order for the Žižek. Sounds like it'll be a days-occupying, challenging read. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

It's taken me this long to overcome my jealousy about the Moretti books and comment. What a frabjous haul!
